Inspiration - Fennec Foxes

While doing some research at work the other day, I came across these adorable creatures called Fennec Foxes. The Fennec Fox (vulpes zerda) is a small nocturnal fox native to the Saharan desert of North Africa. It has huge ears, with hearing sensitive enough to hear prey moving underground. It is the smallest species of canid in the world.

Needless to say; I have fallen in love.

The Quiet World.

In an effort to get people to look
into each other’s eyes more,
and also to appease the mutes,
the government has decided
to allot each person exactly one hundred
and sixty-seven words, per day.

When the phone rings, I put it to my ear
without saying hello. In the restaurant
I point at chicken noodle soup.
I am adjusting well to the new way.

Late at night, I call my long distance lover,
proudly say I only used fifty-nine today.
I saved the rest for you.

When she doesn’t respond,
I know she’s used up all her words,
so I slowly whisper I love you
thirty-two and a third times.
After that, we just sit on the line
and listen to each other breathe.

The Coveteur.

The Coveteur is a fantastic website, taking you inside the wardrobes of some of fashion's most revered. The photography is always exquisitely styled and there is a lot to dribble over!! My favourite post so far has been Suzanne Roger's - set in the Ritz in Paris (oh so Marie Antoinette) and with some of the most beautiful Alexander McQueen and Chanel pieces I have ever seen!!

Here is a selection of my favourites:

*sigh* One day...

Violet Darkling

Today was my first official day interning with up-and-coming fine jewellery brand Violet Darkling. I love the collection and the influences behind it - dark, mysterious, natural woodland, animals etc. They are also lovely to work with!! Various celebrities are already massive fans of the brand including Sienna Miller, Jaime Winstone and Rihanna (to name a few!!). Take a look:
Here you can see Rihanna wearing her Fossa ring - cute right? Check out the entire collection HERE!

Fashionable cynicism.

As a fashion business student (and fashion fanatic) I am constantly keeping up-to-date on the latest happenings in the design world. Typically this involves more superficial articles on topics such as 'the new skirt length' for this season etc, combined with analytical looks at the profitability of a collection/consumer confidence/financial retail reports/etc.

Sifting through all the publications, blogs and reports can get tiring, but there is one that always makes me smile no matter what. And that is the Fashion Statement updates I receive from The Guardian newspaper. Take this excerpt from my latest email:

So here are five things you didn't want to know about the wedding and certainly never asked. And from next week we promise NEVER TO MENTION IT AGAIN.

1. Grazia got THE exclusive. No, not the scoop on the dress. Not the honeymoon destination. Nope, in their 'live' issue they exclusively revealed the contents of Carole Middleton's handbag. Fox's mints, lip liner and Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream, apparently. Now we can all sleep easy at night.

2. Philip Treacy has discovered anti-gravity. How else do you explain the fact that every single one of his 34,235 hat/fascinator creations stuck out at an angle previously unknown to science? He also must have some kind of superinjunction preventing criticism of his designs, as no one seems able to point out that they were all utterly ridiculous.

3. Grazia also scoops the prize for the most patronising comment on Mrs Middleton - a highly contested field. Katie Grand, editor of Love magazine, had this to say about her outfit: "She's come a long way since BA, hasn't she?"

4. Apparently along with the retro bunting, the old-fashioned sense of Britishness, blah blah blah, we are also returning to the happy days of sexism. Exhibit A: Pippa Middleton's physique nominated for award.

5. Kate Middleton is rumoured to have spent the ... nope, sorry. The veil has descended back over our eyes and we don't care enough to continue. Normal service is now resumed. As you were.

The sarcasm suits my humour just nicely, and I'm glad that they are able to do their job with their tongues-in-cheek. Check it out here.

Last night my world was introduced to Soul Punk

Yesterday was breezy but sunny, so I went with my girlfriends Catt & Loz for a picnic next to Buckingham Palace. The flags were still up from the wedding on Friday :) (This picture and the next are Catt's.)

In the evening Catt and I hit up Monto Water Rats, a small venue near King's Cross station, to see Patrick Stump play some of his solo work. It was pretty awesome! Definitely a new sound to my ears and the kind of sound that makes me feel refreshed with music in general.
The place was pretty packed, the band wore suits and bow ties and Patrick Stump sang with the amazing voice he's got. He looks so different since losing all of that weight! Check it out:
Beautiful.

I'm back at uni now and it's manic panic! Crazy busy for the next few weeks. Eep!
Love xoxo
